This is a nice addition to the Porter-Cable line of 18-volt tools. Has a more solid feel and easier to control than previous jig saws I have used. For awhile I debated whether to go with the Li-ion batteries, but have been satisfied with the "old technology" NiCads. Plenty of battery life for the work I do. Totally adequate power.
Only one gripe, and it is common to most of the Porter-Cable line: The safety switch is a long stretch, and if you have small hands it might be a problem. It is awkward to hold the safety switch if you are using the tool in an awkward position.

I had bought a PC Kit that came with extra batteries and I decided to buy this tool w/o any and save a ton. Because I have a one Man shop and I only have two hands, one the tool and one for the work, I did not need to have batteries in every tool and in fact I swap the same battery from one tool to another as I work on a job. The Jig saw is one of the most solid vibration free jig saws I have ever owned. I would highly recommend it to the heavy duty hobbyist.

I'm a week in and I've tackled two projects. So far, so good. I always do a bunch of research before buying anything and have landed on Porter-Cable tools twice in the last two months. This one and a circular saw. I feel like it's a better build quality than the Skils and the B;D's and you're not paying for all that brand that the Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Bosch stuff automatically comes with. Plus, I'm not a pro, so I don't need something top-of-the-line.
It's hard to rate because it's the first jigsaw I've ever owned or even used. But, it did exactly what I wanted it to do, right out of the box. What else can I ask for?
To respond to another review, I haven't noticed a leaning blade. Maybe it's just my particular tool. It cuts as straight as my hand and eyes can make it cut.
The first time I turned it on, it was on the lowest settings possible and the blade was moving up and down at about 55 RPM's: 1....2....3....4...5. At this point I questioned my purchase, but then I cranked it up to the max and sliced through the plywood and aspen boards I was cutting with ease.
I'd buy it again.
EDIT: Months in and around 10 or so projects later, the saw has gotten better (because I've gotten better at using it). It earns my five-star rating easily.

I replaced my old Craftsman Jig Saw with this PC orbital recently and wished I would have made the upgrade sooner.
This is a great Saw, I really like the speed control and how easy it is to reach. You can even change the speed on the fly, and the T type blades are super easy to change. Now I can pull out the blade every time before storing, I have broke many blades just moving my old saw around from place to place.
GREAT JIG SAW for the money.
